This Guide will walk you through updating your password on your email program. This article assumes you have received a new password from Customer Service.
Coming Soon: You'll be able to set your own password without calling Customer Service.

Select Your Email Program
Select the icon below that matches the program you use to check your email. Each program has specific instructions. If you do not see your program below, choose 'General Information'
General Information
If you are using an email program not listed and can't find the place to update your password, please Contact Us and we'll try to help you get things working. If enough people call us needing help with that particular email program, we'll add a section to this page so you have step-by-step instructions.
Windows Mail
Open Windows Mail. Click Accounts on the left, then select the account in the right pane.

Type in your new password in the password box, then click Save.
Try sending yourself an email. If it works, congratulations! You are finished updating your password.
Live Mail
Open Windows Live Mail. In the folder list on the left, right-click on the account name and click Properties.

Click on the Servers tab and look at what is in the first box. What does it say?
My incoming server is a IMAP server. or My incoming server is a POP3 server.
IMAP
Enter your updated password in the password field.

Click the Settings button. Make sure 'Use same settings as my incoming mail server' is selected, and click OK.
Click OK to get back to the main window.
Try sending yourself an email. If it works, congratulations! You are finished updating your password.
POP3
Enter your updated password in the password field.

Click the Settings button. Make sure 'Use same settings as my incoming mail server' is selected, and click OK.

Outlook 2007
Go to Tools > Account Settings
Double-click on the account name to change the settings.
Underneath Server Information, look at the value next to Account Type. What does it say?
Outlook 2010/2013 and early versions of 2016:
Go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings.

IMAP
Enter your updated password in the password field.

Click on More Settings.
Click on the Outgoing Server tab. Make sure the checkbox and top radio buttons are selected.
Click OK, Next, and Finish.
Try sending yourself an email. If it works, congratulations! You are finished updating your password.
POP
Enter your updated password in the password field.

Click on More Settings.
Click on the Outgoing Server tab. Make sure the checkbox and top radio buttons are selected.
Click OK, Next, and Finish.
Try sending yourself an email. If it works, congratulations! You are finished securing your email.
Outlook 365/2019/later versions of 2016
Go to File > Info. If you have more than one account, click the account name to select the correct one.
Observe whether the line under your account name says IMAP/SMTP or POP/SMTP. You'll need this information in a moment.
Go to Account Settings > Server Settings

Enter your updated password in the password field.

Go to the Outgoing mail settings. Make sure "My outgoing (SMTP) server requires authentication" is checked and select "Use same settings as my incoming server".

Click Next and Finish.
Try sending yourself an email. If it works, congratulations! You are finished updating your password.
POP
Enter your updated password in the password field.

Go to the Outgoing mail settings. Make sure "My outgoing (SMTP) server requires authentication" is checked and select "Use same settings as my incoming server".

Click Next and Finish.
Try sending yourself an email. If it works, congratulations! You are finished updating your password.
IOS Mail
Go to the Settings app.
Scroll down to General > About. Observe the software version. Tap < General and < Settings to get back to the main settings screen.
Where you go next depends on which version you have.
- IOS 14 or newer: Scroll down to Mail > Accounts. Tap your account name.
- IOS 10-13: Scroll down to Accounts and passwords. Tap your account name
- IOS 9 or older: Scroll down to Mail, Contacts, Calendars.Tap your account name.
Figure out what type of account you have set up, because the instructions are different for each account type. If it's an IMAP account, it will say IMAP just above the account name. If it is POP, there will be a section called 'POP ACCOUNT INFORMATION'.

IMAP
Tap your account name again. Enter your updated password in the password field.

Next, tap on SMTP and tap on the primary server.

Enter your updated password in the password field and tap Done. Repeat this for all the SMTP servers.

Tap Done at the top right. It will verify that the settings are correct. If everything verifies, congratulations! You are finished updating your email password. You can close the settings app.
POP
Enter your updated password in the password field.

Next, tap on SMTP and tap on the primary server.

Enter your updated password in the password field and tap Done. Repeat this for all the SMTP servers.

Tap Done at the top right. It will verify that the settings are correct. If everything verifies, congratulations! You are finished updating your password. You can now close the settings app.
Mac Mail
In the Mail app, choose Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Server Settings. Make sure the settings match the following:
Incoming Mail Server
User Name: email@domainname.com
Password: your updated password
Host Name: mail.domainname.com
Automatically manage connection settings should be checked. This will allow mail to choose the best security settings available.
Outgoing Mail Server
If necessary, choose your account from the drop-down menu.
User Name: email@domainname.com
Password: your updated password
Host Name: mail.domainname.com
Automatically manage connection settings should be checked. This will allow mail to choose the best security settings available.
Try sending yourself an email. If it works, congratulations! You are finished updating your password.
Thunderbird
Usually, if you close and re-open Thunderbird, it will prompt you to enter an updated password.
If not, press Alt+T to open the tools menu.
Click Options
Select Privacy and Security in the left pane.
Click Saved Password in the right pane.
Click Show Passwords. Click Yes to show the passwords.
Double-click on each of existing passwords you need to change. Type in the new password and press enter in each of those fields.
When you are finished, click Done, then close the Options tab to get back to your message list.
Try sending yourself an email. If it works, congratulations! You are finished updating your password.
